Cheese Herb Bread

This is a nice addition to stews and curries and so simple to make. And no yeast needed!

Time: 1 hour Portions: Depends how much you like bread 🙂


+/-2 tbls Mixed herbs
+/-2 tbls Olive oil
2.25 Cups flour
2 tsp Baking powder
1\2 tsp Baking soda
1 tsp salt
10-12 Slices gouda cheese
2 Eggs
1-2 tsp Crushed garlic
1 tbls Butter
1 Cup + 3 tbls milk combined with 1 tbls vinegar (set aside for 10min)


Preheat oven to 180°C. Mix together the herbs & olive oil. Sift together dry ingredients and mix well. Combine wet ingredients and whisk well. Combine the wet and dry ingredients together. Fill a cake pan with 1\3 of the mix. Spread some of the herb mix over it. Stick half the cheese slices into the mix (thin side down). Cover with the rest of the mixture, spread with the rest of the herb mix and stick in the remaining cheese slices. Place in the oven (uncovered) for 30min. Take out, cover with foil and bake for another 20min. Allow to cool for 10min.
