Moody Meatballs

I’ve always liked the idea of meatballs, but I always wonder who actually prepared it. And that just freaks me out, so I never buy them. I decided that the only option was to figure out my own recipe to make at home. These go well with pasta, mashed potatoes or rice.

Time: 1 hour  Portions: 6 (or 4 if you’re like my family)

700g Minced meat
1/3 Cup breadcrumbs
1 Large egg
1/2 tsp Salt
1 Medium Red onion (chopped)
Black pepper
Pinch dried sweet basil
Pinch paprika
60ml Chutney
120ml Tomato sauce
120ml Mayonnaise
60ml Soya sauce
60ml Worcestershire sauce

Preheat oven to 260°C. Combine breadcrumbs, onion, egg, salt, pepper, paprika, sweet basil and 2 tbls water. Mix well. Add mince and mix well. Make golf ball sized balls and place in a casserole dish.

Mix together the chutney, mayonnaise, tomato sauce, soya and Worcestershire sauce. Pour the mixture over the meatballs and place in the oven for 40min, turning them over after the first 20min.
